More north winds

Another slow day. 16 Turkey Vultures 1 Osprey 8 Bald Eagles 1 Northern Harrier 2 Sharp-shinned Hawks 4 Broad-winged Hawks 3 Rough-legged Hawks Winds are supposed to be from the southeast for the next couple days. I hope that means more birds! Max

Yesterday (4/27), Max had the first SWAINSON’S HAWK of the season fly by the Mountain. Brockway can be a good spot to see these uncommon western visitors and early May should hopefully produce a few more of these handsomely marked raptors.

Over the last few days…

It’s been slow the last few days. North winds have kept numbers down. Joe Youngman counted for me on Sunday. He had 5 Turkey Vultures, 1 Sharp-shinned Hawk and 1 Rough-legged Hawk. Mississippi Kite!

Weather: winds were variable, round 10 MPH most of the day. Highs were around 14C. The flight yesterday was mostly high over Rocky Ridge.
